So I just, very briefly, met the perfect woman.
Well, not really perfect since she didn't like me, but the idea of the perfect woman.

I went to the Alegria, a pub on the Oude Markt and I saw this girl, pretty good looking, black haired, which is my weak point. I would love to say our eyes met across the room, but unfortunatly she was only stading 5 feet away or so.
Anyway

Our eyes met and I give her the "hi there, how you doing :P" smile, setting up for later, and she came up to me!

*shocked*

For a split second I was thinking 'Score', then she ruined it by speaking and saying:

"Not hot enough, sorry".
Which gave me tons of emotions all at once.

Amused, because hell, it's funny
Slightly hurt, though only slightly, I know where I stand on the hotness scale, I make up for it by other qualities :) (hard to get to them if you can't speak to the girl :))
Moved, by the sincere sounding sorry.
Thinking. I had to get a witty reply in.

Which I did.

"Me and Mr. 10 inch will be weeping ourselves to sleep tonight"

She gave me a beautifull smile, but still turned around and joined her friends, never giving me as much as a look.

Still, how much better would the world be if everybody would be this honest right away?

I love the idea she represents :)

So, I had "the talk" with Marij tuesday. It went pretty much the way I thought/hoped it would. She totally understood and didn't seem to be to upset about it.
Good thing that juleske and me did a "role-playing" of the talk the night before at Peter and Jen's place (Muchos graçias again for inviting and Tâm for the food!)

<--- Host of an impressive array of languages

She was rather pleased with the reply to "so why did we kiss then"

<--- Smooth! At least when I get a rehearsal.

Thank God none of the other, (alot) more extreme situations Jules tried on me came up :P.
There was also a hint of a possibility of "friends with benefits", but by the time I realised what she said the moment was gone, we'll see, I'm not going to ask for it, to much potential for a mess, but I probably wouldn't say no.

<--- Could of course just be imagining this.

The final conclusion is basically "Good to know where we are, if anything more is to happen, it's up to you". With you being me.
In the end I even stayed there for 2-3 more hours without it being uncomfortable, hooray for me!

Because people are forcing me to write this:

Marij is an old friend who I hadn't seen in years, we met/"dated" a couple of times in the last 2 weeks. Yesterday we kissed

blah blah long story short:
I don't know what's next.

In really like her. But that's about it. Like. I don't have any butterflies or anything else, so I'm a bit confused. Should I pursue this relationship? My gut says no. What's also confusing is that I'm not to sure how serious she is (we did have quit a bit to drink). I guess this calls for a serious talk. I hate that.
Really really. Dalton-Terror like hate.

This was the short version, longer version available at the Monday dinner :) For those who read this and live outside of Leuven, you'll have to move!

Hell, even Luis is updating, that can only mean the world is about to end, so I thought I'd better fill you all in quickly.

As always, expect very little cohesion of this entire post.

about this, may 12th post
I promised I would comment.
But now I'm tired, so here goes my advice, dressed up as a metaphor of sorts:
Just because you're a player doesn't mean you got game and, more importantly
Just because you got (some) game, doesn't mean you're a player

To cover every angleI shoud probably add:
Just because somebody doesn't have any game, doesn't mean that he doesn't want to be a player

That's about it I guess.

So I went to Corsica for two weeks at the end of june under the motto of "summer school". Our lab got a grant for one student, and the guy first in line didn't want to go because
1) It would be a science thingy so it would all be old people
2) It would be 85% man, combined with #1 this makes 85% old man
3) He didn't want to go alone

So I went. Turns out that:
1) It was specifically for people 24-30y old
2) 63 woman, 29 man. Nuff said
3) He's a whiner.

Yes, good times were had. Considering that the lectures were only from 9-12h and 16-19h.
Oooh, did I mention free stay + breakfast and lunch at a *** hotel?
And did I mention that it was a 5' walk from the beach? Basically this ment:
9-12h: lectures
12-12.15: lunch
12.15-15.54'.59'': Beach
16-19h: Lectures
19h-god knows when (don't think I was ever in bed before 1-2 o'clock): food/picknick/drinking/beach/random things.
Ooh, and weekends= no lectures! So we rented a car one day and a catamaran the other. Yeps yeps. <---- would like to thank the EU for paying for my holidays
To be honest, I did learn alot, and the science was top quality, but still it felt like a paid holiday :).
It doesn't help that a bajillion couples were formed there. You really can't help it, corsica (at least where we were) is like Temptation Island. You're just sitting on the beach, watching the sunset, the beatifull nightsky, or you're sitting on a terras looking over the bay, sun setting,... well, let's just say that woman went "oooh this is so romantic" without any guy even saying a word.
good times.

So when I got back there was a huge kot party from my old kot (student room thing). Alot of the people that came there together with me, now 4y ago, graduated, so party time @ cuythoek. Basically we all got drunk while reminiscing :) Good times indeed.
That got us all talking about kot dynamics, so now there's this email circulating.
Here's what we have so far: (big pictures, you're warned)

Clean picture

Modified
Blue: Is dating
Red: Has dated
Greenish: Has been denied by
Purple: has kissed or other with.

There's probably still some stuff missing since not everybody added their lines yet.
Aaah, the memories :)

First barbecues also came and went, good times were had by all I think. Special thanx to Jukke, Tâm, Svekke, Peter &Jen for hosting! Smaller then three you all!

<----- 1337

Last week I went to SixFlags/Walibi with Linus, Tâm, Jules, Stan, Fried, JanD and Susan for Q's Birthday.
I'm just mentioning them because everybody loves to see their own names in LJ posts, right?

Oddly enough (sarcasm wrapped into a slice of irony here!) Q was drunk and couldn't make it, that didn't stop all of us for celebrating and going anyway :). Well, it didn't stop the rest from going and waking me up by knockin on my windows and giving me 1' to get dressed.
One more time:
LJ posts are not a valid means of communication, especially not if they're friends only!

I had alot of fun. The lines were a killer, as always, but playing Charades, Singing and whatever you call the "lets do random moves and annoy other people" games kept me entertained. And other people annoyed. Screw them! It's an amusement park, not a standing in line without talking park!

Afterwards we went for food and drinks and "put the beer-coaster into your mouth".
Jules en Susan1
Jules
I guess it's a dutch thing.
Note the Duvels and blame them J&S :)

I had some more stuff, but I'm tired and done for now!
Later all!

An update! Yes!

I could blame writer's block ar something like that, but the truth is that I'm just to lazy and most of the time don't see the point in updating my LJ journal. If you want to know something about me, talk to me IRL or online is my point of view.

Anyway, back to business
Now if I can just find a midget with some gin I'll be in business -
Random Family guy quote, inserted for no reason!

So why write now? I dunno, I'm bored and it's 2am on a saturday night, sunday morning if you want to get technical, and I'm sitting at home. BahI went to the Silo to some birthday party of a friend of a friend of a friend (or something like that) and it sucked, so I just left, cuz I'm cool like that.

Nobody's gonna hurt anybody. We're gonna be like three little Fonzies here. And what's Fonzie like? Come on Yolanda what's Fonzie like?! - Replace Fonzie by Jerbu, or not, whatever.

I could have gone elsewhere, but I wasn't in the mood, you see, for some strange reason I've fallen for a girl that I can't get. Yes, I know, I'm a big fan of the "but every guy can, theoretically, get every girl" idea, but this might not be happening.

In theory, communism works

A short background to semi-clarify things, just so I can confuse you some more afterwards: I went to a party at my old "kot" (rougly translates to orm or something like that for the US readers) for a party, and I saw Kaate (yes, it's spelled like that, and yes, that's a wrong spelling for both the English Kate and Dutch Kaat, I dunno, I guess her parents were dyslectic.)

<----- Prepares to get flamed for this by dyslectics reading his post.
Flaming spelled wrong probably
<---- can't help himself.

Now, you should know that, even before I said a word to her, two seperate people came to me saying "you should go talk to Kaate, she would be the perfect match for you". Obviously I'm telling the first one "yeah right", but after the second one, curiosity gets the better of me and I go and talk to her about random stuff.
I immediatly fall for her. Don't ask me why. She makes random comments about people, she likes alot of things that I do to, and, most importantly, she makes weird jokes, completely in my own style and she is very lively.
Really, the two people who "recommended" her were very right, she would, in theory, be perfect.

There's always a catch, isn't there?

After a while we went to the Waaiberg, some local party place where Kaate's student club (Appoloon for those in the know) had a party, very good times were had. Despite being there with 10+ people, I found myself looking for Kaate (and I somehow got the idea that she also came looking for me, but I could be blinded, who knows.)

aah yes, the vital information that the reader is waiting for

She's been together with somebody for nearly 2y.

<---- Drops the bomb

Yeps yeps, that's no good. Usually I don't want to get involved with girls dating somebody (steadily), but friday and today, I found myself thinking about her. A lot. Now there are two options:
A) Don't do anything, she's taken. 99.99% certain that you have no shot. Just continue with your life, you only go to your old kot every two weeks or so, and don't even see her there alot, so get over it.
B) Go. 0.01% isn't 0.

So right now the plan is probably to go there and just knock and mumble something along the lines of " I know I have a snowball's chance in hell, but I'm pretty sure I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn't ask you this....... "

After which I will either get a joke thrown in my face (that's how I would react if I wasn't interrested, and I'm pretty sure she would to :P) or not. We'll see I guess.

Since I'm typing, I might as well continue.

So, I'm still playing Kol, I don't know why, I'm only adventuring at the icy peak with my 3 accounts, gathering meat for Ascenscion, not even playing the market anymore since I basically have everything I want bare the ultra-rares, that I'll never be able to afford anyway. Hopefully the big A is soon.

Darn, PT Atlanta is on. Somehow I still got a smidgin of regret when i saw Team "agence touristes" on the list, that could so have been the much cooler Team "Zonder banaan/zangeres" (Me, stanv, Philippe Verdoodt). Damn.
Not that I have to make a PT at some point to be happy. I wouldn't mind, but I have come to realise that my skills are, depending on format, moodset and concentration somewhere between sucky and halfway decent. But coming one gamewin away from the (team) PT and not making it was painful. Even more because it was a Team PT, that seems like a bunch of fun.
Better luck next year I guess

Or just some luck Monday will do

Some random drafts that I wrote this week but never actually posted, (note that I refuse to be held responsable for typos):
Edited. "I refuse to be held responable for typos", was just to much irony for me to take

What's with people whining about their job? You're 20something for Gods' sake, if you're stuck in a job you don't like already, something is probably seriously wrong.
Am I the only one who has always tought that a job should either be fun/interresting or have godly hours?

3 pm, sounds like quitting time to me!

Life is to important to be spent working all the time.

Somehow I found myself randomly flirting with girls that I've already known for a long time this week. I'm not even interrested in more than being friends with these girls (and vice versa), I guess it's my metabolism screeming for (female) attention. Or maybe I just enjoy making random flirty comments.

Flirting is the second cousin of Cheating

Not like that matters since I have no GF :P
As people always say "there's plenty of fish in the sea" and there really is, but one can't fish all the time, sometimes you have to go home and just sit back and relax without any fish.
I probably took this metaphor a step to far, but hey.

For those not in the know yet:
"Met deze kan ik u proficiat wensen met het bekomen resultaat tijdens uw
verdediging voor de IWT specialisatiebeurs. U heeft 16.5 (op 20),
hetgeen het 2de beste resultaat is van deze reeks. Men heeft me gezegd
dat het voor 100% zeker is dat u uw beurs heeft.
Jef"

The words w00t w00t come to mind. Only they're not real words, so I must be spending to much time online.

No one will really be free until nerd persecution ends.

Vrijdag naar een optreden geweest van Argus (random band met groepsleden die ik ken), allemaal stemmen zodat ze op Rock Arendonk (say it with me: waaaaaaaaaw) mogen spelen:
arendonk zingt !!

National Geographic should do a doc. on human mating patterns
Yesterday night I played 'wing man' for a friend of mine for the first time in I don't know how long.
Here's the concept explaining all the terminology for those unaware:
Guys ("The Herd") go out to a pub or any other random place ("The breeding grounds").
When one of the guys sees a sexy girl ("The Prey"), he can shotgun her. Altough this concept should probably be elaborated since there are extra unwritten rules here.
For the sake of convencience I'll ignore them.
In a normal situation, the guy would then go talk to the girl and see what happens.
However, some girls, being the clever beings that they are, decided at some point in history that they are to pretty to just talk to any guy. They can't be bothered, so they invented The Cock-block.
This is the extra girlfriend that they bring along (usually not as pretty, but not always). She serves a dual purpose:
1) She will talk to the girl all the time, leaving no chance for us man to talk to her
2) If by some lucky break you get to talk to the girl, she will interrupt the conversation and try to drop in.
Of course, in this arms-race, man haven't been doing nothing! No no, we deviced the idea of a "Wingman"

You can be my wingman anytime!

The wingman is a friend who has no interrest in hooking up with a girl that night (or even better, is already in a relation), and who will try to clear way for the main man.
This of course involves taking out the Cock Block by any means necessary.

The reason why I don't play wingman in normal situations is that a wingman shouldn't have a conscience. I realised this a long time ago, but it became painfully clear again once my friend was hooked up (well, talking to the girl, once there it's all upto him), but the girl I was talking to couldn't have been more boring.
So in a normal situation I would just say hi, bye etc..., but I couldn't leave my post!! If the wingman goes down, the squad leader is on his own, and I don't like those chances :p
So I kept talking about random things. After a while she's doing Hairflips, now any guy recognizes these, that means you're going places.
However, I wanted to either
A) Stay there or
B) Go home.
<--- not going anywhere!

Now leaving here would become even more rude, so I started to say dumb things to her, to make her think I'm too stupid to hang out with. Talk about your all time utter failures, she thought I was trying to be funny, when I was just trying to get her to go away. Thank God I was saved by my friend who realised that he couldn't get a missile lock on the girl after talking to her for ~1h so he decided to give up, so we aborted the mission and head home.
